Welcome to Jung's Group!
The research of Jung's Lab focuses on investigating new synthetic routes for low-dimensional nanomaterials, engineering their molecular structures, and studying underlying fundamentals in structure and properties. Our group also develops nanomanufacturing processes, such as assembling and integrating nanomaterials into functional device architectures. Primarily, we are interested in extreme carbon and silicon nanostructures and their assemblies with extraordinary atomic structures, architectures, and properties. Ongoing projects are developing 1) nano-sensors for chemicals, optical, ion, and radiation detection, 2) highly conductive and mechanically enhanced nanocarbon networks and fibers, and 3) multifunctional and high-performance energy storage devices. Our works are in the areas of material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and solid-state physics.
